The G.C. Foster Lions were crowned St. Catherine Rugby League Champions after they secured the Jamaica Rugby League Association (JRLA) Parish Championship. The Lions dominated the season in winning eight games out of the nine played, losing only to the Vikings in the second game of the season. The Final was played between the Lions and the Spanish Town Vikings at Albion Sports Complex in Spanish Town.
The Lions were convincing winners, outclassing their rivals with a combination of speed and power to beat the Vikings. The G.C. Foster Lions team was led by powerful centre Othneil Holness, who scored two tries, with help from Marlando Anderson, Tameish Cole, Stephen Scott and the ever improving Kemar Chambers, who scored one try a piece. Roxroy Alsott and Ricardo Martin replied for Spanish Town who finished second in the Championship. G.C. Foster Lions will now turn their attention to the Play Offs between the St. Catherine and Kingston divisions. The Lions are set to play the Denham Town All Stars who finished fourth in the Kingston regular season. The Lions are determined to take home the Championship title for overall champions and is looking forward to the return of their centre Adrian Myers who went to Canada on National duties. The Team is also confident in wining although they find themselves in new territory at this stage in the competition.
